Media Minimalism

Hello wonderful readers,

Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a wonderful week minimizing your spice and herb cabinet. My hope is that you have begun to experience the amazing feeling and benefits that the minimal lifestyle can provide.
If you have not, please join the #MsMinimalismChallenge anytime; it's never too late to begin.
Congratulations to Gail G. for being last week's winner of the challenge!!

Week six's challenge will take you to a highly used area of your home; your living room. Our living rooms are a beautiful place to entertain, to relax, to defuse, to laugh, to share, to play, to bond, and so much more. Our living rooms can hold a great deal of large physical items such as sofas, chairs, tables, etc; but this week's challenge isn't going to be to minimize your furniture items. We will begin with smaller items; your movies, DVDs, and CDs.

Trevor and I love movies, music, TV shows, and anything media related. We have collected a fair amount of these items throughout our twenty-four years on planet Earth, especially when Trevor and I became one. When Trevor and I moved in together and combined our media collections, we noticed we had: 1) Similar tastes, 2) Duplicates, 3) Media we have used once and never touched again, and 4) Too many overall items in our collection. We then knew we had to downsize our media collection, which we did pretty easily.

When Trevor and I moved into our new home December 1st last year, our living room came equipped with gorgeous wooden built-ins. We both said they would be a wonderful place to store photos, DVDs, movies, and CDs since they have glass to show off what is inside. It's awesome to have this permanent storage available in our living room, but I began noticing that every day I walked by them and peered inside to view their contents, I felt my stress level increase. We had downsized our media collection previously, but I knew it was time to revisit these items and minimize even more.

Trevor and I still love everything media, but most of our media collection has been sitting collecting dust ever since we moved in. We consume a lot of our media through streaming with Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Spotify; which is extremely clean because all of the media files are stored online and not cluttering our stunning built-ins. Since we both love these items, Trevor and I worked together for this week's #MsMinimalistChallenge to downsize the same way we began our collection: together.

This week's challenge is to go through your media collection, minimize, and count how many are in your new minimized media collection. Feel free to grab your loved one(s) and include them in this week's challenge!

Are there items you haven't used in years that could bring joy to someone else?
Are there items that no longer add to your happiness that you can part with?
Donating these items can be a beautiful way share your once used media items to others in your community and beyond. I am happy to say I feel less stressed now that we have minimized our media collection once again!

After you complete the media minimizing, take a photo, post it to social media (include the amount in your new minimized media collection), and tag #MsMinimalistChallenge for your chance to win this week's gift!

Happy minimizing!
