We need YOU

Hello wonderful readers,

Happy Monday!

Last week my husband and I traveled to Washington DC and had a wonderful trip! Even though it was a short trip, three days and three nights, we saw and experienced so much!

Some of the places we went were: Thomas Jefferson Memorial, FDR Memorial, MLK Jr. Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Women’s Memorial, World War II Memorial, Washington Monument, The White House, The Museum of American History, The Museum of Natural History, The Capital, Botanical Gardens, Air and Space Museum, Holocaust Museum, US Marine Corps Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Women in Military Service For America Memorial, Battle of the Bulge Memorial, Air Force Memorial, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Oh yeah, we also went to the Zac Brown Band concert on Friday night!!
We walked a ton and were able to experience so much. It feels amazing to be home sleeping in our own bed with our little rescue dog by our side.

Many mixed feelings surfaced for me while we were on this trip. I felt humbled by the sacrifice so many men, women, families, and loved ones made for our freedom and the freedom of others. I felt disheartened that so much suffering has occurred in our history, and some of it is still occurring here today. I felt and feel honored to live in the country I am so blessed to call home. I felt my freedom was not and still is not free, and so much is going on to protect and preserve this freedom we have. I felt small - Standing next to some of these memorials and structures made me feel like as tiny as a spec in the greater scheme of things. I felt the urge to scream, cry, and punch my fist through a wall because of things that were allowed to happen and still are happening.
All of these feelings lead me to ask yet again unanswerable questions:
“Why?”
“Why did this have to happen for us to stand up and create change?”
“Why is the bystander effect so pro-dominate in the past, present, and possibly even the future?”
“Why is our past filled with such darkness, blood, death, and suffering?”
“Why does hate fuel more hate?”

All of these feelings and questions stirred so much within me. This happens to us often, when we feel moved, inspired, and compelled to make change, and yet we do nothing. We sit with the feelings and then life gets “busy”. These once strong feelings that were stirred within us to create change quickly diminish and fade.
Why do we do this?
We shouldn’t need a constant reminder to make change, big or small. We should harness these stirring feelings and do what our hearts and souls are guiding us to do.
I am guilty of this very problem. I feel compelled to make change and allow it to fade into nothing. I get busy, tired, distracted, and just sometimes straight up lazy.
We too often say “Just one person cannot create change, someone else is working on solving this problem.”

You can create change - It starts with you. It starts with the feelings that were planted and stirred within your soul. Listen to these callings and answer the stirring in your heart, mind, and being. Create change, right here and right now. Don’t wait for things to happen in your backyard to do something about it, don’t just stand by and allow others to take the bull by the horns.

Do not allow hate or anger to take permanent residence in your heart - Use this as fuel for positive progress and change.

We need one another to live and love by the feelings that are stirred within you.
We need YOU.
So do something today that could create positive change for tomorrow, not just change for you, but positive change for the world.

Thank you so much for reading and being here.
Have a great week everyone.
